As part of our continued investment into innovation and technology, we have been working hard on integrating Augmented Reality technology into our production process. Augmented Reality allows us to create efficiencies in our supply chain and in turn, deliver better customer service to our clients.
As of early 2025, we will have completed the final testing stages needed to fully integrate Augmented Reality into our process.
Our investment into Augmented Reality (AR) not only supports our net zero facility and environmental responsibility, but it also supports our dedication to high-quality workmanship. Here is how it works.
The process begins with 3D digital drawings of the structures. These are necessary at the design stage of any project, but are also integrated into the AR system for visualising the products in situ.
The AR technology and relevant devices must then be calibrated in order to align the virtual elements with the physical workspace. This step is crucial to ensure precise visual references and measurements.
Once calibrated, the AR overlay onto the physical pieces of steel helps our team to check that the product is built to design. This real-time visual feedback helps to reduce error and improve efficiency.
As a final step, AR can be used for quality assurance; comparing the completed products with the original digital models. Should any revisions be needed, Augmented Reality can also assist in guiding the necessary adjustments with pinpoint accuracy.
Investing into technologies such as augmented reality help to unlock a lot of potential in steel processing and fabrication, including providing a number of benefits to both the fabrication company and its customers.
Augmented Reality allows us to overlay digital models onto real-world steel components, ensuring that every cut, weld, and assembly is executed with exact precision. This also helps us to avoid logging unnecessary mileage during collection and delivery, in turn reducing our environmental impact.
With enhanced precision, we can speed up our workflow and increase its efficiency. For example, measurements, alignment guidelines and assembly instructions can be accessed and reviewed through the use of Augmented Reality.
Utilising Augmented Reality helps to reduce the amount of material waste as a result of more accurate cutting and assembly of the steel. This helps to support our commitment to more sustainable fabrication practices.
